MUJI Meets IDÉE

Recently I've been looking through for many home inspiration and when I chanced upon MUJI meets IDÉE, I wish I was staying in one of those house. The project was created by MUJI X IDÉE, two Japan's popular design stores in 2010. The ‘case studies’ filled with many quirky items and ideas for small spaces inspired me especially case 5 was my favourite of all, scroll through the beautiful images and you shall know why :)

Flower Pressed

If you've noticed me been missing away from my blog yes you are totally right (*.*) Due to the haze I've started some new hobbies and as you can see from the photos, flower pressing is just one of them. Looking at the flowers, I hope to keep them as fresh and beautiful as ever but that wouldn't be possible therefore it struck my mind to start pressing some rather than wait for it to wilt.

Someone asked me what am I going to do with the pressed flowers and actually I do not know even though partial of them would be for card making and how about the rest ??

Taken from her blog, an excerpt from her favourite part of the "Happiness is..." article under "Joy" --

"Joy is different from happiness. Happiness, as discussed earlier on, is dependant on external circumstances, things that happen to us, for instance when I get a promotion, I am happy. Joy though, is an attitude, that even though things are not exactly going our way, we can still be joyful. It is a resilient, persevering kind of spirit accompanied by a deep sense of composure that even though I have lots of work to do and am stressed, I can still be thankful and joyful that I have a job during these difficult economic times.

Joy, the unspeakable joy, comes from a heart that is grateful and thankful for all that life has endowed for us. With thankfulness and gratitude, there is a gentle peace pervading even though we may be ruffled by some rough edges. It is a peace of mind, a peace of heart that surfaces the joy which helps us withstand the winds of adversity, and prevents us from bringing destruction to our world.

Joy to me, is that sense of wonder, that sense of blessedness when I am walking in the park, being caressed by the gentle breeze, seeing a falling leaf, watching moving clouds, a butterfly fluttering its wings, a kingfisher making a dive for a fish, a sea-eagle gliding in the horizons. Those serendipitous moments that testifies to my heart and mind that is good to be alive -- fully human, fully alive. Then, a certain joy wells up in my soul that is inexpressible and unexplainable. It is an existential joy that surges from the depths of the core of my being, where a supreme being resides, a pure joy that is lasting which is beyond mere happiness that is fleeting."

Nom Nom .... Hoshino Coffee

My new friend, Carol was saying how lucky I'm to have visited Hoshino Coffee many times without queueing. I wondered what makes many people going back so many times ? Was it the fluffy Fuwa-Fuwa Hoshino soufflé or the Double Pancake Souffle Style ? To me it was the plain looking coffee I've ordered served with a tiny pitcher of sweet milk (a blend of milk and cream) tasted just like those I had in Japan, just like the way I like my coffee.

Nom Nom .... Necessary Provisions

I didn't make it when Henry Congressional was around so when they finally opened Homebodies in Boat Quay and now Necessary Provisions in Eng Kong Terrance, I make it a point to go as soon as I knew. I thought there is no need to rush down but obviously mouth of word spread fast for good places :D

I had a great afternoon there eating the Rosemary Chicken with Watercress and Parmigiano Sandwich, their signature pandan chiffon cake and dark chocolate cookie. I'm totally in loveeeeeee with my Iced Espresso In Milk, served in a cup was two ice cubes of espresso coffee and a cold bottle of milk where I can pour the amount I like into the iced espresso cubes. The favour changes as the iced coffee cubes melted and addition of more or less milk. I want to come back soon for the after 6 menu before the crowd starts.

Another thumbs up gem hidden in the quiet private estate, the West seems to be getting more exciting :D

Shop 【Roccoco Kent】 【CLOSED】

This charming hidden gem could be easy overlooked even if you are always shopping in Kampong Glam area. After much searching I finally found Roccoco Kent a vintage-inspired fashion lifestyle boutique with great collection of clothing, accessories and home accents. RK a small and cosy shop with outdoor area does not have a specific era or style, the odds and ends are all picked up the owners from their travels around Asia, Europe and Australia. There are so many wants but due to the space constraint at home, my purchase was very minimum. I'm going crazy with the vintage gems here, this shop is definitely worth a visit again very soon :)
